Kannada actor Duniya Vijay, who made headlines after two stunt actors from his film Mastigudi 2 drowned, was arrested this Tuesday for allegedly threatening and assaulting 52-year old Jayaram, Shivshanker Gowda’s father-in-law and Maasti Gudi producer Sundar Gowda’s brother.
Vijay was reportedly trying to mediate between Jayaram and Shivshanker when he reportedly lost his temper. The incident occurred at a private place 500 metres from the Chennamanakere Achukattu police station.
Vijay was later released on bail, and when contacted later in the evening, reportedly told the Bangalore Mirror that it was “a family matter” and a ‘”mall incident”. He said that a compromise had been reached between him and the offended party. “It is a family matter for us and we have arrived at a compromise. The recent days have been very traumatic for me and at this point I do not want talk much about the matter,” he said.

Meanwhile, Deputy Commissioner (Bengaluru City South) SD Sharanappa said, “Duniya Vijay was arrested on the basis of a complaint of assault and intimidation filed at CK Achukattu police station.The complainant has stated that the actor had a heated argument and suddenly turned against him.”
Reportedly, Vijay and Shivshankar wanted to convince Jayaram to bring about a reconciliation between his daughter and Shivshankar. The meeting took a bad turn when Jayaram refused to give in to their demands. Vijay was booked under sections 314, 504, 506 and 323 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) for wrongful restraint, criminal intimidation, intentional insult, and voluntarily causing hurt.
