Mohanlal will play the lead in the Film Employees Federation of Kerala’s (FEFKA) upcoming film, directed by Jeethu Joseph.
According to a report, an official announcement is expected soon. FEFKA president Ranji Panicker is writing the film. Known for movies like Commissioner and King, Ranji Panicker, a former journalist, has written stories that link politics with heroism. His collaborations with directors like Shaji Kailas and Joshiy have resulted in movies with some of the most remembered lines.
This new movie marks Panicker’s return to screenwriting seven years after The King And The Commissioner, and also Mohanlal and Renji Panicker’s second collaboration. The duo previously worked together on Joshiy’s Praja. Despite not being a commercial success, Praja was characterized by its extra-lengthy dialogues.
Director Jeethu Joseph’s new film also marks the second collaboration between the director and Mohanlal. The duo’s previous film, Drishyam, was an enormous success. Ajay Devgn starred in the Hindi version, and Kamal Haasan played the lead role in the Tamil film directed by Jeethu Joseph.
Following the success of Drishyam, Jeethu Joseph also directed the debut film by Mohanlal’s son. The director made Aadi starring Pranav Mohanlal in the lead. The movie turned out to be a hit.
Jeethu Joseph’s latest movie is Mr and Mrs Rowdy, featuring Jayaram’s son Kalidas Jayaram and Aparna Balamurali in the lead. The film is currently awaiting release.
Meanwhile, Mohanlal is currently awaiting the release of Lucifer which marks the directorial debut of actor Prithviraj Sukumaran. The film, featuring an ensemble cast including Manju Warrier, Tovino Thomas, Vivek Oberoi, Indrajith Sukumaran, Sachin Khedekar and Fazil is pitched as a political thriller.
Mohanlal is currently shooting for Priyadarshan’s Marikkar: Arabikkadalinte Simham.
