Speaking about the film, Joju, who worked on the script along with Jiby, was quoted in a ToI report as saying, “It’s a total fun movie that would remind the audience of Lalettan’s yesteryear super-hits such as Vellanakalude Naadu, Chithram and Kilukkam.

Honey Rose plays the female lead in the movie. Radhika Sarathkumar, who was last seen in Dileep’s Ramaleela, will reunite with Mohanlal 34 years after Koodum Thedi. Also a part of the cast are Dharmajan Bolgatty and Hareesh Kanaran.

About the words ‘Made in China’ in the title of the movie, the director said, “We will be shooting in China; we have planned a short schedule of less than a week there. Also, China has a significant part in the story which is otherwise set in Kunnamkulam.” Kunnamkulam is an area in Thrissur district which is notorious for selling duplicate products.

The movie will be shot by cinematographer Shaji Kumar who has worked on Mohanlal’s films like Odiyan and Pulimurugan. Filming locations also include other parts of Thrissur and Singapore.

Meanwhile, Mohanlal is working on Priyadarshan’s Marikkar: Arabikkadalinte Simham. The movie is based on the life of Kunjali Marikkar IV – the fourth and last of the naval chiefs who was deployed to defend the seas against Portuguese by the Samoothiri of Calicut. The movie features actors like Suneil Shetty, Prabhu, Arjun Sarja, Manju Warrier, Keerthy Suresh, Kalyani Priyadarshan, Kiccha Sudeep and Pranav Mohanlal.

Mohanlal is also collaborating with director Vinayan for a movie. “The story has not been finalized yet. However, I will be beginning the paperwork and formalities for the project after completing my new film which goes on floors by the last week of March. The story of the Mohanlal-movie will be said on a huge canvas and it will be a big film,” the director wrote on Facebook.

Mohanlal is currently awaiting the release of Lucifer in Malayalam, and Kaappaan in Tamil.
