Mr and Mrs Rowdy, Jeethu Joseph’s new film starring Kalidas Jayaram in the lead, is centred on the stereotypes surrounding villains. It is a light-hearted comedy that narrates the tale through the lives of four youngsters with the story set against a rural backdrop.
In a bid to mock the four protagonists, Aparna Balamurali who plays the female lead in the movie cites the examples of Mangalassery Neelankandan and Keerikkadan Jose, the erstwhile rowdies of Malayalam cinema, to say that a rowdy’s name should suffice to strike fear in the people. Our protagonists, on the other hand, go by short and soft names of Appu, Maniyan, Pathro and Anto.
The movie is about four youngsters from a village and their endeavours to become serious goons. Ganapathi plays one of the four protagonists in the film.
Jeethu Joseph, who had worked with senior actors like Prithviraj, Mohanlal and Dileep during the initial stages of his career seems to have found a fascination for youngblood. He previously directed Aadi, which served as the launchpad for Mohanlal’s son Pranav Mohanlal. While that movie boasted of quite a few experienced actors, Mr And Mrs Rowdy comprises mostly of newcomers.
