Television actor Mouni Roy who is popularly known for her role in the serial, Naagin, will mark her bigscreen debut in the movie, Gold. She will be seen along with Akshay Kumar. The project will be helmed by Reema Kagti.
According to a report in IE, the 31-year-old actress is expected to sport a completely different avatar from her television self. “Mouni will be seen in a completely different avatar to suit the era. She will shoot for the film for 20-25 days in August and is one of the few female characters in the otherwise male dominated narrative. She will be shooting extensively with Akshay,” a source said.
The script is by Rajesh Devraj and is a fictional take on the sport, Hockey. “Hockey will feature prominently in the plot but it is a strong human drama. Gold follows 12 crucial years in India’s history as well,” the source added.
The movie is expected to release on August 2018 and will be bankrolled by Ritesh Sidhwani and Farhan Akhtar. The sports drama is about the historic first Olympic medal that India won post independence.
Meanwhile, Akshay is currently awaiting the release of Toilet: Ek Prem Katha which will hit the screens on 11 August. He will be along with Bhumi Pednekar and the movie talks about the problems with open defecation in the country.
