The Nadigar Sangam has issued a press release in the wake of the death of Kannada actor Ambarish. The members offered their deepest condolences to the actor’s grieving family, and said they take part in this grief.
In the press release, the Nadigar Sangam says that Ambareesh, the screen name of MH Gowda Amarnath, was a man who always wanted to safeguard the relationship between the Kannada and Tamil film industries: “As President of the Actors Association in Kannada industry, Ambareesh dedicated his life to the welfare of the acting community. He also served the nation in his capacity as the Union Minister for Information and Broadcasting and as a parliamentary leader.”
His loss is an irrevocable one for both the country and for Indian cinema, the press statement says. “We offer our deepest condolences to his family. We also share their grief.”
“Ambareesh was a great man who began his film career with Nagarahavu and went on to act in over 230 films in Hindi, Tamil, Kannada, Telugu and Malayalam. We are pained to hear the news of his sudden passing,” the statement says.
A spokesperson says that a contingent from the Nadigar Sangam will pay their respects to the actor shortly.

Ambareesh, known for his fiery temperament and equally fiery onscreen presence, succumbed to a cardiac arrest on 24th November. He was 66. His mortal remains have been kept at Bengaluru’s famous Kanteerava Stadium from early today morning. A steady line of Ambareesh’s fans, friends from politics and cinema, have made their way to the Stadium to offer their respects. Rajinikanth, a close friend of Ambareesh, has already made an appearance.
The Karnataka Government has announced that a State funeral will be held for the actor. A three-day mourning period will also be observed.
