Shyam Singha Roy, the upcoming Telugu film starring actor Nani, will stream on Netflix after its theatrical run, the director of the film, Rahul Sankrityan, told Silverscreen India.
The film, which is backed by producer Venkat S Boyanapalli under the Niharika Entertainment banner, is set to hit theatres on Christmas Eve (December 24).
Shyam Singha Roy will follow the normal protocol of a four-week window between its theatrical release and digital debut, said the director.
It is to be noted that Nani’s last two films, V (2020) and Tuck Jagadish (2021), both premiered on Amazon Prime Video. Shyam Singha Roy will mark the Netflix debut of the actor.
Also starring actors Sai Pallavi, Krithi Shetty, Madonna Sebastian, Rahul Ravindran, Murali Sharma, Abhinav Gomatam, among others, Shyam Singha Roy is a romantic period drama that features Nani in the title role. His character will have both Telugu and Bengali ancestry.
The film will include several cultural references to Bengali society. It will feature Calcutta in the 1970s, with references to historical events that took place in West Bengal during that period.
Sai Pallavi plays a devadasi (a female artist offered in service to god), while Shetty essays a modern-age character and Madonna plays a lawyer.

Speaking about the film’s OTT release, director Rahul said, “Netflix is my next love after theatres. That is where I watch a lot of content and it is super exciting to witness its growing popularity and that of other platforms as well. These OTT platforms do not have any limitations and provide filmmakers with a wider audience.”
