The long-delayed Natpuna Ennanu Theriyuma is set to hit screens on May 17, clashing with the big Tamil and Hindi releases Monster, Mr Local, Thumbaa (tentatively), and De De Pyaar De.
Directed by Sivakumar and produced by Ravindar Chandershekaran for Libra Productions, the film stars Kavin, Remya Nambeesan, Arunraja Kamaraj and Raju in the lead. The release date was announced on social media recently.

The film was launched back in September 2017 and scheduled for a March 2018 release, which was later postponed to July. This delay led distributor Malaysia Pandian of PSP AV International to file a petition against the producers saying he had bought overseas distribution rights and was facing losses worth Rs 25 lakhs. Ravindran had said that the delay was because of Tamil Film Producers’ Council’s indefinite strike, which had affected the release of several movies at that time. Natpuna Ennanu Theriyuma was later scheduled for October 2018, but postponed once again due to non-availability of expected number of screens.
Speaking to Silverscreen, producer Ravindran says he is confident that this is the right time for release, “There will be no changes, the film will 100 percent release on May 17. We believe we’ll get the expected screens this time. It’s true that this was a roadblock for the film before, but the challenge is to get the maximum screens in predominant theatres and our distributors will handle that. I’m also confident that the film’s positive response will increase the screens and number of shows.”
He adds that the case filed against the producers has been closed, with no pending dues right now.

Directed by newcomer Shivakumar, the film is a comedy entertainer. “It is a situational comedy following three friends and the events in their lives when they all fall for one woman. The director has a very humourous take on things. And other than the main leads, Arunraja Kamaraj and Raju have strong roles. Both of them have performed excellently,” says Ravindran.
Director Arunraja Kamaraj, who has acted in films like Raja Rani, Maan Karate and Maragadha Naanayam, worked on Natpuna Ennanu Theriyuma before he made his first directorial Kanaa. The trailer of the film garnered good response from the audience last year. Music is composed by Dharan Kumar, cinematography by Yuva, editing by R Nirmal. The title of the film is inspired by a dialogue from Mani Ratnam’s Thalapathi (1991).
