Renji Panicker, the actor with perhaps the highest stake in the cast, makes a fleeting appearance at the beginning and end of the trailer of Ningal Camara Nireekshanathil Aanu. Clad in white, the actor, presumably playing a politician, repeats the title of the movie (which translates to ‘you are under surveillance’) in a speech in the second appearance.
The movie establishes Bhagath Manuel, who until now had been relegated to supporting characters, as a leading man. He plays a police inspector in the film. But the story, set in the village of Maamalakndam, revolves around Jayakumar’s Jose who runs a studio and roams around with his primitive camera.
Like the run of the mill comedies of the 80s and 90s, this movie too has its first half devoted to fun and frolic. A bunch of characters, played by Sasi Kalinga, Sivaji Guruvayoor and MR Gopakumar make their presence felt.
The story takes a turn with the disappearance of Jose’s daughter Aancy. In the village, rumours begin to spread about the missing girl. It is left to Bhagath Manuel’s character to find out the reason for the disappearance. Also, he is shown to be romantically involved with her, which raises the stakes.
The movie also features Balaji Sharma, Sabu Thiruvalla, Sajilal, Anish Jayaram, Aathira Maadhav, Ambika Mohan and Sunitha.

The movie marks the comeback of Sasi Kalinga who has been absent from Malayalam cinema for a while. There have been unconfirmed reports about the actor being approached for a foreign film. The actor was last seen in 2017 in the Mohanlal starrer Munthirivallikal Thalirkkumbol and Vineeth Sreenivasan’s Oru Cinemakkaran.
C.S.Vinayan has penned the story as well as directed Ningal Camara Nireekshanathil Aanu. Santhosh Gopal and Abhilash.K.B have jointly written the screenplay of the film.
