Nithya Menen will reportedly replace Jyothika in Atlee’s upcoming film Vijay 61. A source close to the unit told Silverscreen that Jyothika’s involvement in the film is very sketchy as of now. “She had wanted a few changes to be made to the script and she was not happy with the way her role was written. As this demand did not go down too well with the film’s makers, things have not all been worked out.”
Menen, however, is expected to join the team this week. While a spokesperson for Jyothika chose not to confirm or deny the report, the actress would’ve been seen in a pivotal role in the film and would be teaming up with Vijay after Kushi (2000) and Thirumalai (2003).
Vijay 61‘s other two heroines – Kajal Aggarwal and Samantha Ruth Prabhu – are still part of the team, with the two of them teaming up with Vijay for the third time too.
Directed by Atlee who had last directed Vijay in Theri, details about the film’s story is yet to be announced. The project will also have actor Sathyaraj and comedians Sathyan and Vadivelu among others. SJ Suryah has been roped in to play the antagonist in the film.
AR Rahman has also been roped in for music, with Sri Thenandal Films producing it.
