Oththa Seruppu Size 7: Abhishek Bachchan to Star in the Hindi Remake, Shoot Will Be Completed in Single Schedule, Says Director R Parthiepan

Abhishek Bachchan, the Hindi actor who was last seen in The Big Bull, will play the lead role in the Hindi remake of 2019 Tamil thriller film Oththa Seruppu Size 7, director of the film R Parthiepan told Silverscreen India.

“Amitabh Bachchan’s production house bought the rights to the film and Abhishek will be seen in the main role for this remake. We have already started shooting and plan on finishing the film in one schedule itself,” the director informed Silverscreen India.

Oththa Seruppu Size 7 is a 2019 Indian Tamil-language thriller film produced, written, and directed by Parthiepan. He also acted in the film as the only character seen on-screen. The story revolved around Masilamani, a suspect in a murder case who is taken into custody by the police for investigation. In the movie, the audience gets to hear the voices of other characters but the camera only follows Masilamani.

The film, which premiered at the Singapore South Asian Film Festival on 30 August 2019 and was later released worldwide on 20 September 2019, won two National Awards including special Jury Award and Best Audiography (re-recorded final mix for Resul Pookutty). It also won the Jury Award for Best Feature Film, Jury Award for Best Feature Film Director, and Best Solo Act Award at the Toronto Tamil International Film Festival.

Oththa Seruppu Size 7 had Ramji as the cinematographer, R Sudharsan as the editor and A Amaran as the art director, Resul Pookutty as the sound designer and Santhosh Narayanan as the music composer. The film was registered in the Asian and Indian Book of Records for a single person directing, producing, and performing in the movie.

Meanwhile, Bachchan will also be seen in Tushar Jalota’s directorial Dasvi alongside  Yami Gautam and Nimrat Kaur. Bachchan has also wrapped up the shoot of Bob Biswas. The film, inspired by a character in Sujoy Ghosh’s film Kahaani, is directed by Ghosh’s daughter Diya Annapurna Ghosh. The film will also star Chitrangada Singh.

On the other hand, Parthirpan also has his one-shot film Iravin Nizhal, which will star newcomers. This experimental film will have music by AR Rahman.
