The film got a U/A certificate from the Central Board of Film Certification and the title of the film was changed to Padmavat. The others suggestions of the CBFC included a disclaimer at the beginning of the film and during the interval, changes in the song ‘Ghoomar’ so that the characters are depicted correctly.
With the January 25 release date, the film will clash with Akshay Kumar’s PadMan. Neeraj Pandey’s film Aiyaary, starring Sidharth Malhotra and Manoj Bajpayee, will also release around the same time (January 26).
Meanwhile, the Karni Senas of Rajasthan have refused to budge and still want a complete ban on the film.
The film, made on a budget of Rs 190 crores, stars Deepika Padukone as Rani Padmini, Shahid Kapoor as Ratan Singh, and Ranveer Singh as Alauddin Khilji.
