The 2010 Malayalam action-comedy Pokkiri Raja, directed by Vyshakh Uday Krishna, will soon have a sequel titled Raja 2.
In Pokkiri Raja, the story revolves around Raja, who takes the blame for a murder which was committed by his father and goes to prison. When he gets released, his father does not accept him, which makes him flee the city. But fate had other plans. The film starred Mammootty, Prithviraj Sukumaran and Shriya Saran. It was bankrolled by Mulakuppadam Films and the music was scored by Jassie Gift.
There are rumours that Prithviraj might not be a part of the sequel. He had played the role of Mammootty’s brother in the original film. As reported in Asianet News, the sequel will not star Prithviraj, while two heroines will be cast opposite Mammootty.
It was also reported that Raja 2 will not be a continuation of its first part, but will focus more on Mammootty’s character. Another young star will probably be roped in for the film. Currently, the directory is busy scripting the film, which will go on floors this August. Official announcement on this is yet to be made.
