After actor Vijay’s speech during the audio launch of AR Murugadoss’ Sarkar went viral, Central Minister and BJP leader Pon Radhakrishnan said he would welcome it if Vijay put out a list of corrupt people. The speech had strong political overtones, leaving everyone wondering if the actor would also take the plunge into politics.
“If actor Vijay points out the names of corrupt, I will welcome him with a garland. Not everyone can become MGR and Jayalalithaa. Rajinikanth is the only other actor who has strong support from the people.”
During the event, actor Prasanna, who was hosting the show, asked Vijay what he would do if he became Chief Minister. The actor replied: “Usually, everyone says they will take steps to do away with corruption and scams. I don’t think it is that easy, because they have spread like viruses in our everyday life. I don’t know if they can be totally eradicated, but it has to be done.” He also spoke about how a leader should be and explained it through a short story.
Later State Minister RB Udayakumar said: “When we are there to take good care of the State, why are actors thinking about becoming the Chief Minister? They don’t have the patience and tolerance to indulge in politics. Vijay can only show a ‘circus’, not good ‘sarkar’.”

Pegged to be a political thriller, Sarkar also stars Keerthy Suresh and Varalaxmi Sarathkumar, besides Pala Karuppiah, Radha Ravi and Yogi Babu. Produced by Sun Pictures on a massive budget, the film will be released on Deepavali, competing with Gautham Vasudev Menon’s Dhanush-starrer Enai Nokki Paayum Thotta.
