Actor and director Ponvannan who had earlier resigned as the vice-president of South Indian Artistes’ Association (Nadigar Sangam), has now reportedly withdrawn his resignation.

The general secretary of Nadigar Sangam, Vishal’s foray into politics ruffled a lot of feathers and led to the resignation of Ponvannan. “The Nadigar Sangam comprises people from all parties. Because of this, we had decided that the administration would be independent of political affiliations,” Ponvannan told The Times of India.

Later, along with Vishal and president of the sangam Nasser, a meeting was held with Ponvannan which led to the withdrawal of his resignation.
Vishal had declared that he would be contesting the RK Nagar by-election as an independent candidate. The TFPC president filed his nominations papers amid much fan-fare, however, it was rejected on the grounds that the names of the proposers were incorrect. He had staged a dharna and later tweeted that his nomination has been accepted. There was a twist in the tale and his nomination was officially rejected.
