Actor Pooja Hegde, who is currently working with Vijay in the Tamil film Beast, will appear opposite Mahesh Babu in the upcoming Telugu film directed by Trivikram Srinivas, tentatively referred to as SSMB28.
The makers of the film made the announcement while revealing the crew through a video released on social media, on the occasion of Mahesh Babu’s birthday on Monday.
The upcoming film is backed by producer S Radhakrishna of Haarika and Hassine Creations banner.
This will be Hegde’s third collaboration with Trivikram after Aravinda Sametha Veera Raghava (2018) and Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo (2020), and her second film with Mahesh Babu after Maharshi (2019).
Trivikram will be directing Mahesh Babu for the third time in the upcoming project. They have earlier worked together on Athadu (2005) and Khaleja (2010).
While the rest of the cast has not been announced yet, the film’s technical crew will comprise of music composer Thaman with R Madhie handling the cinematography. AS Prakash and Naveen Nooli will serve as art director and editor, respectively, the makers revealed.
Speaking to Silverscreen India, a source close to the film unit, requesting anonymity, said, “The story writing and implementation are finished. The casting for the other roles is on. The team will start shooting once Sarkaru Vaari Paata is wrapped up. The shooting for that film is going on in Hyderabad and it is about 60% complete.”

The source also added that the makers of SSMB28 are considering a pan-Indian release. “It is an action film, and they had initially planned only for a regional release. However, if the situation is right, they will release it on a pan-Indian level. As of now, it will be shot only in Telugu.”
Meanwhile, Mahesh Babu’s Sarkaru Vaari Paata is scheduled for a theatrical release on January 13, 2022. Directed by Parasuram Petla and produced by Mythri Movie Makers, GMB Entertainment Pvt Ltd, and 14 Reels Plus, it also stars Keerthy Suresh and Vennela Kishore, among others.
