Actor Prashanth says he will act in films directed by Mani Ratnam and Shankar if the directors approach him. He has previously acted in Thiruda Thiruda by Mani Ratnam and Jeans by Shankar. His latest action heist drama Johnny by director Vetiselvan released yesterday.
In an interview with Thanthi TV, he says, “Surely it will be my privilege to act in their films because they are the finest directors. They don’t write scripts for actors, but instead look for actors for their scripts. In case a script demands me to act, they’ll approach me and I too will act.”
“Many earlier films of mine like Thiruda Thiruda, Jeans, Winner and Kannedhire Thondrinaai have good plots which can be developed into sequels. Anything can be made into sequels with hashtags,” he added.
When asked about his favourite among recent films, he said, “I loved Nelson Dilipkumar’s Kolamaavu Kokila because it was extraordinarily done, despite the constraints. He had to manage Yogi Babu on one side and Nayanthara on the other, and he did it. It was good to see him maturely balance the stars on screen.”

He then responded to a question about why actors don’t comment on problems in the society, and said, “Many have started speaking up with time. But an actor has a fan following, so he is careful not to affect people with comments, and avoids extra troubles.”
“According to me, ever actor is helping and contributing to the society however they can. Even the big stars do it silently, thinking it’s unnecessary to talk about it,” he added.
He was also asked if actors must enter politics to do this, and he said, “We have seen actors help people by getting into politics. They have done it and still do it. But there are also those who do it without entering politics.”
