Pratyusha Banerjee’s Last Phone Call To Rahul Raj Suggests He May Have Forced Her Into Prostitution

Television actress Pratyusha Banerjee, who shot to fame with her role as Anandi in the soap Balika Vadhu, ended her life by hanging herself on 1st April, 2016. Her boyfriend, Rahul Raj Singh, accused of abetting her suicide, is currently out on bail. After a series of accusations between the couple’s families and allegations against Rahul Raj for physical abuse,  a transcript of the last phone call the couple shared, has revealed that he may have forced the actress into prostitution.

In the three minute phone call, Pratyusha is heard saying that she is ready to end her life.

“You are selfish… you are spoiling my name. People are talking about me… my mom and dad are termed ghatiya. Rahul, it’s over. I am over. Mar gayi mein (I am dead)”.

“I had not come here to sell myself… I had come here to act… to work. And where are you putting me today.. Rahul, you have no idea how bad I am feeling right now.”

In response to this, Neeraj Gupta, the advocate for Pratyusha’s parents said,

“This conversation happened between Rahul and Pratyusha just before her death. In this conversation, it is very clear that she was forced into prostitution by Rahul, as later on in the same phone call she has used the word ‘prostitution’.”

In September, Rahul Raj was also charged with molestation when he and a female friend got into a heated argument with a producer and his friend at a pub in Mumbai.
