Preetha Jayaraman’s long delayed The Fakir Of Venice will release soon. The project marks the Bollywood debut for the cinematographer.
She told ToI:
“The Fakir of Venice was shot a decade ago and has been in gestation. It was screened at the LA film festival earlier, and it’s finally releasing this year in India. Anand Surapur, the director, and I, met when I shot the music video for Kailash Kher’s Teri Deewani for him. We shot this black comedy for a month in Venice, where the protagonists Farhan Akhtar and Annu Kapoor’s journey takes them,” she said.

We have about a week of shoot left, which will require all our four leading actors — Nana Patekar, Shriya Saran, Taapsee Pannu and Ali Fazal.”
Preetha also hopes to begin work on her project with director Priya soon. Said to be a romantic comedy, the film will be made in Kannada as well as Tamil.
