Alphonse Puthren, director of the hit Malayalam film Premam, has turned producer. He’s currently working on a joint production with Sukumar Thekkepat for the movie Thobama, written and directed by debutant Mohsin Kassim.
The film features Premam fame Siju Wilson, Krishna Shankar and Sharafudheen – all of them recently seen in Aadhi – in lead roles. Reports suggest that a newcomer will be seen as the female lead.
Siju Wilson, Krishna Shankar and Sharafudheen had earlier shared screen space in Njandukalude Naattil Oridavela, which marked Nivin Pauly’s independent production venture. Siju and Sharafudheen also appeared in Happy Wedding, which was a huge success.
The music for Thobama is scored by Rajesh Murugeshan who’d previously worked on Neram and Premam. Sunoj Velayudhan handles the camera.
Alphonse Puthran had earlier announced that he was working on a script for a bilingual movie (in Malayalam and Tamil).
Director Mohsin Kassim became popular with his short film God’s Own Country, which was the earliest platform in which the Premam team worked together.
