The Kerala government had recently eased restrictions on film shootings in the state, which have helped many halted shoots to resume work in the state.

The film is billed as a mass action entertainer, set in the 90s.

The actor is also expected to start working on an investigative thriller story by Tanu Balak, in which he would be playing the role of a cop. The movie is expected to be largely shot in Thiruvananthapuram. He had announced that he was part of a film based on a mythological story, which is a Gokulraj Bhaskar‘s virtual production.

The latest poster of Kaduva had revealed that Prithviraj would be playing the role of Kaduvakunnel Kuruvachan. The movie had hit headlines even before shooting had begun because of the legal tussle over copyright issues with Suresh Gopi‘s 250th directorial venture by Mathews Thomas Plammottil.

Jinu Abraham in July had filed a copyright violation case alleging that the script of Suresh Gopi’s film was plagiarised. The protagonists of both films are named Kaduvakunnel Kuruvachan. In August, the court had ordered a stay on the shooting and promotional activities of the Suresh Gopi film until the case is resolved. The film is based on the script that director Renjit had earlier written. The issue was resolved only when Renjit had come forward to state that Jinu Abraham had sought his permission before commencing with the script.

The film is bankrolled by Prithviraj’s home production, Supriya Menon Prithviraj, and Listin Stephen.

The actor will be next seen in  Aadujeevitham, a film based on a novel written by Benyamin. Prithviraj will be paired with Amala Paul. This movie would see the return of the music composer AR Rahman to the Malayalam industry after 25 years.
