The Tamil Nadu Producers Council has tied up with music composer Ilaiyaraaja for a fundraising concert. Called ‘Isairaja’, funds raised from the show will be used to help members of the council.
A spokesperson for the TFPC told Silverscreen that key members met Ilaiyaraaja at his residence on September 19 and signed an agreement with him.
“President Vishal, R Parthiepan and some other key functionaries met Ilaiyaraaja sir and discussed the terms of the agreement. Ilaiyaraaja sir has graciously agreed to appear for the show that will feature his compositions alone. His music is legendary, and the TFPC’s cause is a good one. So, this event already has a lot of positive vibes,” he said.
A representative of Ilaiyaraaja confirmed the news. “It will be a live show featuring many popular songs from Ilaiyaraaja sir’s repertoire. Singers who have collaborated with Ilaiyaraaja sir in the past will also be involved. This will be facilitated by our council members.”
Venue and other details of the event will be made available soon. Revenue generated from the sales of tickets to the event, to be held on January 2019, will go towards the council.

At present, the Tamil Nadu Film Producers Council is mired in a lot of issues. It has been asked to intervene in the complaints against actors Vadivelu and Silambarasan. Shankar’s S Pictures raised a complaint against Vadivelu for walking out of 24am Pulikesi owing to creative differences with director Chimbudeven. Silambarasan, who collaborated with producer Michael Rayappan for Anbanavan Asaradhavan Adangadhavan, was accused of being unprofessional throughout the shoot of the film and allegedly caused a loss of Rs 20 crores for the producer. Rayappan has asked the council to mediate the dispute and make sure that the actor pays up before signing other movies.
