Actor and Director R Parthiepan has issued a written statement about a the brewing controversy over whether he recommended Suriya over Vijay for director Shankar’s Nanban. The Kathai Thiraikkathai Vasanam Iyakkam director said, “The opportunity to direct the 3 Idiots remake came to me first and the producers spoke to both Suriya and Vijay. Finally, they decided to go with director Shankar and Vijay for the movie. Recent media reports that I was asked to play Sathyaraj’s role in the movie, and that I recommended that Shankar cast Suriya are completely false.” He also added, “Actor Vijay was the person who recommended me for Nanban. Why would I bite the hand that feeds me?”.
Nanban was a 2012 release.
