Lawrence had previously planned Kanchana 3 with a female protagonist. “There may not be a hero, and I am considering a lead female star. I am also retaining those who are relevant like Kovai Sarala madam who played my mother, Devadarshini, Manobala, and Sreeman in the fourth part as well,” the actor told Silverscreen.
“Just like Kanchana which addressed transgender people’s issues, in the fourth part, I have taken up a different social issue,” he said.
The Kanchana franchise has been very successful mainly for its popularity among children. It’s a horror-comedy, widely appreciated by family audiences.
