Telugu actress Rahasya Gorak is making her Tamil debut with Sarbath, co-starring Kathir. The film is directed by Prabhakaran, a former associate of Balaji Sakthivel.
Rahasya has played cameos in Telugu films, and is currently making her debut as the lead actor in Raja Varu Rani Garu, co-starring newcomer Kiran Abbavaram. The Hyderabad-based actress will foray into Tamil cinema with Sarbath. She plays Kathir’s lover in the film.
The first-look poster starring Kathir and Soori released last month.

Soori plays Kathir’s friend and is also central to the plot. A press statement said that his role is similar the one in films like Oru Oorla Rendu Raja, starring Vemal, and Gemini Ganeshanum Suruli Raajanum, starring Atharvaa.
Sarbath is pitched as fun-filled entertainer set in Dindugal, with a few scenes shot in Chennai. Kathir plays an IT employee working in the city, while Vivek Prasanna is his older brother. When Kathir comes home to attend his brother’s wedding, he encounters some issues and how he resolves them forms the rest of the story. Siddharth Vipin and Marimuthu also have important roles.
7 Screen Studio is bankrolling the film. Music is by Super Singer contestant Ajesh, cinematography by Prabhakaran, and editing by Prasanna GK. The film is expected to release in August.
Meanwhile, Kathir is currently busy with Vijay and Atlee’s Bigil, and recently signed up for the sports film Jada, directed by newcomer Kumaran. He plays a footballer in both films.
Kathir made his debut with Madha Yaanai Koottam in 2013, and starred as Vijay Setupathi’s brother in Vikram Vedha, directed by Pushkar and Gayathri. The film was a hit, but it was his performance in last year’s searing Pariyerum Perumal, directed by Mari Selvaraj and produced by Pa Ranjith, that was best received. This year, he also acted in Sigai and Sathru.
