Music composer Gangai Amaren’s house was recently raided by officials from the Child Helpline. The raid is said to have been conducted following reports that the composer had employed two underage girls at his residence, in direct violation of the country’s child-labour laws. The officials found two young girls working there and have taken them to a safe house. Gangai Amaren had reportedly told the officials that he had employed the children with the consent of their parents and that he was innocent of any wrong doing.
A case will be filed against the composer, following which a formal investigation will take place.
