The COVID-19 imposed lockdown has put a halt to film-related activity. However, creators across the country have used this opportunity to experiment with the form and come up with innovative ways to showcase their craft.
Among those is director Caarthick Raju who has shot for a bilingual emotional thriller in the lockdown phase starring Raiza Wilson and Harish Uthaman in the lead roles.
The director managed to pull off the shoot in a period of 18 days with a minimal crew and had Raj Shekar Varma’s Apple Tree Studios, which is producing his Soorpanagai, bankroll this project too.

The film revolves around a mother, a daughter, and a teenager. The Tamil version has Bala Saravanan and Kaali Venkat essaying important roles while the Telugu version has Sathyam Rajesh and Madhu Nandan reprising the same. Kaithi fame Baby Monica and Rangasthalam fame Anasuya are also a part of both versions of the film.
“We shot only with a helicam at Sirumalai, a dense forest region situated in the Dindigul district. It was the apt backdrop for the script. The village is corona-free and comprises less than 500 families in total,” says Caarthick who planned on doing something creative with a small crew.
He adds, “We took permission from the necessary authorities and got all of the 28 cast and crew members tested for COVID19 before and after the shoot. We are done with the entire shoot and editing and will start work on dubbing today. The film will have unexpected twists and turns and also have its share of comic elements right through.”
On the technical front, Velraj R ISC has cranked the camera, Sam CS has composed music, Dhilip Subbarayan has handled stunt, Sekar has helmed art, and VJ Sabu Joseph has edited the film. Aadai fame Kavitha J has designed costumes for the film.
The makers have revealed that the untitled film’s first look will also drop soon.
