Writer Rajesh Kumar for Prabhu Deva’s Bollywood Venture

Crime novelist Rajesh Kumar, who is making his screen-writing debut with Sandamarudham, has been receiving many offers from the industry. In an interview with Silverscreen, Rajesh Kumar revealed that director Prabhu Deva has expressed interest in adapting his novel Velvet Kutram into a Hindi movie. At present, the novel is being translated into English, post which Prabhu Deva would hunt for producers.

Besides that, the writer is also working on the story, screenplay and dialogues for a Tamil film – 2000 Sathuradi Sorgam – helmed by director Augustine of Othakal Mandapam fame.

Recalling his experience on the sets of Sandamarudham, Rajesh Kumar declared that he was given “full freedom” by director Venkatesh. “Director Venkatesh came to me with a usual script, but I suggested a scientific touch to make the story more gripping. I introduced him to the scientific term ‘Obva Lasika’ which forms the crux of the story”.

Sandamarudham – starring Sarath Kumar, Oviya and Meera Nandan – hits the screens on February 20.
