Rajinikanth has submitted a response to the Madurai High Court regarding the Lingaa plagiarism case. In his petition, Rajinikanth has said that he has only “acted in the film and has nothing to do with its production or distribution”. The actor also alleged that the lawsuit has been filed against him to damage his reputation and popularity in the film industry.

Earlier, the director of the film, KS Ravikumar, had also refuted allegations that he lifted the story of Lingaa from Mullaivanam 999 (directed by Ravirathinam). In his response to the court, he said that Lingaa was based on a script penned by Pon Kumaran, who had registered the story with the South Indian Film Writer’s Association, and that some changes were made to the script before filming began.
In contrast, Rajinikanth’s response to the court makes no mention of these ‘changes’, and simply credits the story to Pon Kumaran.
The High Court bench will hear the case on November 24.
