Produced by Boban and Moly, under the Boban & Moly Entertainments banner, Rameshan Member 9aam Ward also stars Gayathri Ashok as the female lead. The cast includes Chemban Vinod, Mamukkoya, Sabareesh Varma, Indrans, Johny Antony and Renji Panicker.

The makers released the film’s teaser on Saturday.

“The story follows Rameshan played by Arjun, a youngster from the countryside, who works as a painter. Indrans plays the role of his father. Rameshan is in love with a girl named Anna. As his life goes on, he unexpectedly happens to contest in the panchayat elections. The story revolves around the turn of events in his life after this,” says Anto.

The duo has been working together on many stories for several years, and the idea for Rameshan Member 9aam Ward came up in 2018.

Aby reveals that the story is loosely inspired by a real-life incident involving a neighbour. This neighbour, who came from a humble background, one day won the local body elections and it changed his life. “We found it interesting and thought it had the potential to be made into a film. So, Anto and I developed a story around it by adding some fictional aspects to it. Even the other characters in this film are based on people we have observed around us,” he adds.

Rameshan Member 9aam Ward was shot by cinematographer Eldo Issac in the directors’ hometowns – Keezhmad in Aluva and Manjapara in Angamaly. The film went on floors in early 2020 and the shooting was completed a week before the pandemic-induced lockdown.

The film’s technical crew includes music composer Kailas Menon and editor Deepu Joseph.

According to the makers, Rameshan Member 9aam Ward was originally scheduled to release in theatres on February 18. However, it has now been postponed to the last week of February. The new date of release is yet to be announced.
