Aakashaganga 2 – the sequel to director Vinayan’s 1999 horror comedy by the same name, will go on floors tomorrow. The movie stars Asif Ali in the lead and features Ramya Krishnan in a prominent role.
Talking to Silverscreen, the director said: “We had originally planned to start shooting on the 16th but postponed it, keeping the elections in mind.” The shooting will kickstart in Palakkad.
Ramya Krishnan will appear in the role of a black magic practitioner. The director had previously said that her character is that of a doctorate holder who has returned from the US. Divulging more details, he added: “Her character’s name is Dr Soumini Devi. She is someone who worships negative energy. Her character also has an interesting connection with the original story”
Ramya’s portions will be shot at an ashram set built near Odapamanna Mana, Palakkad. “She will join the shoot by May 10, and we plan to wrap up her work in 10 days,” he said.
Though the director had plans to cast Prakash Raj in another role, the team has opted for Harish Peradi instead. The director had earlier told Silverscreen that the new movie would be a direct sequel and narrate the story of the daughter of the original film’s protagonist, played by Divya Unni.

The movie will have a romantic track, and also throw the spotlight on a gang of friends studying in a medical college.
