The Dadasaheb Phalke International Film Festival Awards 2022, held in Mumbai on Sunday, saw actors Ranveer Singh and Kriti Sanon take home the Best Actor awards in the male and female categories, respectively, while Allu Arjun’s Pushpa: The Rise won the Film of the Year award.
Actors Sidharth Malhotra and Kiara Advani bagged the Critics Best Actor awards, in the male and female category, respectively, for their performance in the film Shershaah, which also bagged the Best Film award.
Singh, who won for the film 83, took to Instagram and expressed his gratitude in a video. “I want to express my heartfelt gratitude to the Dadasaheb Phalke International Film Festival Awards. Thank you for believing I’m worth this award. I also want to thank the audience. In my career of 10 years, I probably didn’t receive as much love and respect as you gave me for this role,” he said.
Dedicating the award to the ‘legacy of the Kapil Devils’, he further said, “I hope that through my art I can continue to inspire the youth of our nation to follow their dreams with intensity and passion.”
Lara Dutta, who won the Best Actress in a Supporting Role award for Bell Bottom, also took to social media and thanked the makers of the film for giving her the opportunity of portraying former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi.
The Dadasaheb Phalke International Film Festival awards filmmakers and artists across sections such as feature films, short films, documentaries, animations, music videos, and ad films.
