Ashok Selvan, last seen in the Netflix-only release Sila Samayangalil, is currently working on a horror thriller titled Red Rum, directed by Vikram Sreedharan. The film’s first look motion poster was recently unveiled.
The poster reveals some characters, all linked by a red web, that ultimately goes on to read ‘Murder’. Produced by Sundar Annamalai under the banner Timeline Cinemas, the film stars Kannada actor Samyuktha Hornad, whose last project in Tamil was Prakash Raj’s Un Samayal Arayil. Music is by Vishal Chandrasekhar (Remember his amazing range in Jil Jung Juk?) , and cinematography is by Kugan S Palani.
Talking about the film, Ashok Selvan told The New Indian Express, “It is a romantic horror film. There is a lot of mystery in the film, with stylish execution. The title is inspired from The Shining. The title had relevance to the story and both the director and I are huge Stanley Kubrick fans; so, we thought we’ll use it.”
Talking about her role, Samyuktha said: “I play a guitarist in the film. I have even begun taking some guitar lessons. That’s all I can reveal for now. I am really liking the vibe, the team and I have been having some insightful conversations about the project.”
The film also features Madhumathi, Deepak Paramesh, John Mahendran and Sarath Ravi. The shooting for the film began in October 2018, and it is expected to release sometime soon this year.
