The release date of actors Aamir Khan and Kareena Kapoor Khan starrer Laal Singh Chaddha has now been postponed. Earlier set to release for Christmas 2020, the film will now hit screens for Christmas 2021. Helmed by Advait Chandan of Secret Superstar fame, it is being jointly produced by Aamir Khan, Kiran Rao, and Viacom 18 Studios.

Laal Singh Chaddha is the Indian adaptation of Robert Zemeckis’ iconic Forrest Gump which starred Tom Hanks, Robin Wright, Gary Sinise, Mykelti Williamson, and Sally Field. The film will see Aamir Khan play the role of a Punjabi with Vijay Sethupathi and Mona Singh in important roles. While Pritam is composing music and lyrics are by Amitabh Bhattacharya and Atul Kulkarni is penning the story.

Aamir had previously said in a statement, “I have always loved Forrest Gump as a script. It is a wonderful story about this character. It is a life-affirming story. It is a feel-good film. It is a film for the whole family.”
The team was found filming in March but had to halt owing to the COVID-19 pandemic which led to a nationwide lockdown and a stall of all film and TV productions. So far, the film crew has shot in Punjab and Himachal Pradesh.
On Monday, images of Aamir at the Turkey airport did the rounds with speculations that the actor has resumed filming for Laal Singh Chaddha. Although, Kareena was not to be found along with him and has been spotted in Mumbai.
