Written by Mitesh Shah and Anand Gandhi of Ship Of Theseus fame, Helicopter Eela portrays the story of a single mother and son. Very soon she turns into a ‘celebrity’ when a newspaper features her story for being a single mother who has taken up studies after 22 years. The trailer then shifts to how the mother and son keep running into each other at college. What is mildly annoying for the son in the beginning very soon turns out to be ‘suffocation’, eventually forcing him to leave home.
The film also stars Neha Dhupia and Tota Roy Chaudhary in pivotal roles. Music is composed by Amit Trivedi and lyrics by Swanand Kirkire.
The film marks Kajol’s next outing after the 2017 Dhanush-starrer VIP2, directed by Soundarya Rajinikanth, where she played an egotistic business magnate who eventually learns to live life too.
