RGV Questions The National Awards; Calls Aamir Khan “Greatest Filmmaker”

Ram Gopal Varma, who never shies away from tweeting his mind whether it’s taking a dig at Pawan Kalyan or stirring a fight between Tiger Shroff and Vidyut Jamwal, recently tweeted about the relevancy of National Awards. Using Aamir Khan as an example, the Sarkar filmmaker spoke out about the award system, and the way it’s losing credibility in the country.

RGV isn’t the only director to express his opinion on the National Award winners this year. Soon after the announcement, director AR Murugadoss talked about how biased the awards were. Murugadoss blamed the ‘partial and biased’ jury headed by director Priyadarshan for the unsatisfactory results.

Hansal Mehta too, expressed his disappointment over this year’s winners. In a long message sent via Twitter, the director of Aligarh said that while he is disappointed that the movie did not win any award, he hopes the film’s story would inspire more support for LGBTQI activism in India, and more love for queer persons.
