RK Selvamani Wants TN Govt. To Move Sivaji Ganesan’s Statue To Its Original Place

RK Selvamani and the Director’s Association have made a sincere plea to the Tamil Nadu government, asking for the restoration of Sivaji Ganesan’s statue back in its original place.

The statue was moved earlier this month following a directive from the Madras High Court, which heard a case from a local man who alleged that the statue obstructed the line of sight of motorists.

Director Seeman said that the statue was moved for the same reason the Kannagi statue was moved. He alleged that politics was behind the PIL and the subsequent removal.

Selvamani, meanwhile, said that it was wrong on the part of the Government to treat the statue of such a great actor with such impunity. “Sivaji Ganesan was a proud son of the soil. He was a great man and brought many laurels to our state. Moving this statue is akin to treating the man with disrespect. On behalf of his fans and every Tamil person in the world, we request the Govt. to restore the statue to its original place.”

Earlier, the late actor’s son, Prabhu, had also said that his family will take every possible measure to make sure that the statue was moved to a more deserving location.
