Rubam, the upcoming Tamil film starring Parvati Nair, had its first look poster out on social media on Thursday. Rubam is set to be a woman-centric supernatural thriller.
Speaking to Silverscreen India, director of the film Thamarai Selvan said, “It is an emotional story revolving around two mothers and a child. Parvati Nair will be essaying the role of one mother. She will also be seen as a cop in the film.”
Produced by Kotapadi J Rajesh under the KJR Studios banner, Rubam will be written and directed by debutant director Thamarai Selvan. Touted to be a supernatural thriller, the film will be based on a female-centric story. The film’s publicity manager Yuvaraj told Silverscreen India that the film’s shooting is set to begin in Chennai from January 2021 onwards.
“The film will have a prominent supernatural element present throughout that will play an important part in the story. However, the film is a complete thriller. You will be able to see a clear difference between the thriller and horror element in Rubam. But at the same time, the film will be a mix of both,” Selvan added.
Speaking about the casting, the director said, “Freddy Daruwala will play the villain in the film. We are in talks with actor Sneha for the role of another mother, but nothing has been decided yet.”
The film marks Daruwala’s debut in the Tamil film industry.
While Sarathkumar is the editor of the film, Ghibran will score the music, and cinematography will be handled by Sudarshan Srinivasan. Peter Hein is the stunt coordinator and Gopi is the art director.
