SA Chandrasekhar is back to direction after his 2015 anthology movie Touring Talkies. His upcoming film will star actor Jai in the lead, and will go on floors in May.
The spokesperson for the actor confirmed Jai’s participation in the project. Details about the other cast members have not been announced yet, however, some reports suggest that Nikki Galrani plays the female lead. The film will also be produced by SA Chandrasekhar, and other announcements will be made soon.
In the past few years, SA Chandrasekhar has been acting in several projects. He played the lead roles in Traffic Ramaswamy directed by his former assistant Vicky, and in Nayyapudai by Vijay Karan. He played a supporting role in Dhanush and Trisha’s Kodi (2016), and Naan Sivappu Manithan.
He has directed over 70 films in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Hindi. He made his break through with Sattam Oru Iruttarai in 1981, and some of his most popular films include Vetri, Naan Sigappu Manithan, Neethikku Thandanai, Once More. He has worked with Vijayakanth, Vijay in Tamil and Chiranjeevi in Telugu. Directors S Shankar, Rajesh, Ponram had worked with him as assistants.

Work on the Chandrasekhar’s film with actor Jai will reportedly begin after Jai completes shoot for his upcoming film with Aramm director Gopi Nainar. The film has been pitched as a woman centric project featuring Aishwarya Rajesh in the lead. It has been in production since September last year. Gopi Nainar is presently also working on a much-awaited biopic on Birasa Munda.
Meanwhile, Jai is gearing up for the release of his Malayalam film Madhura Raja, co-starring Mammootty in the lead. The film is directed by Vysakh, and is scheduled for release on April 12. The actor has finished shooting for Venkat Prabhu’s multi-starrer film Party which will feature Jayram, Sathyaraj, Ramya Krishnan, Nasser, Regina Cassandra and others. Shoot for the horror thriller Neeya 2, his upcoming film with Varalaxmi Sarathkumar, Raai Laxmi and Catherine Tresa is also complete.
