The film had initially received an ‘A’ certificate, and the makers were asked to remove 21 minutes from the film as it involved violence performed by the actors who played minors on screen. Later it was given an ‘UA’ after which they were asked to reshoot few portions.

Talking about the  certification to the Times Of India, director Murugesh said “When people see the ‘A’ rating, they immediately think the film has vulgar scenes. In fact, it is easier to get such films certified. Some film, like mine, have violence that is necessary, but since such content is also given ‘A’, it becomes difficult for us.”
