Sai Pallavi, who is gearing up for the release of director Balaji Mohan’s Maari 2, has reportedly signed her next project in Telugu. It is said to be a love drama.
Reports say that the film is by director Venu Udugala of Needi Nadi Oke Katha fame, and will star Rana Daggubati and Sai Pallavi. It’s a love story set in the 1990s. Speculations say Sai Pallavi plays a Naxalite and Rana Daggubati is a cop. Rana Daggubati was last seen in a cameo for Welcome to New York.
It is said that the story will be told from Sai Pallavi’s perspective. Pre-production work for the film has begun, and will go on floors next year. An official confirmation from the actors and the team are yet to be made.
Sai Pallavi made her Telugu debut in a romantic drama Fidaa with actor Varun Tej, directed by Sekhar Kammula. The film won her the Filmfare Award for Best Actress in Telugu. She then starred with Nani in Middle Class Abbayi, an action-comedy directed by Venu Sree Raam.

Sai Pallavi’s next big is Maari 2 which releases on December 21. It’s a sequel to the 2015 Maari starring Dhanush in the lead, directed by Balaji Mohan. She plays ‘Arathu Anandhi’ in the sequel, an auto driver in love with Dhanush. Pallavi is also working with Suriya in NGK, a political thriller directed by Selvaraghavan, and a yet-to-be titled film in Malayalam directed by Vivek starring Fahadh Faasil in the lead.
