Langda Tyagi, a character from Vishal Baradwaj’s Omkara, will be spun-off into its own film. The character was played by Saif Ali Khan, and his performance was appreciated. Mid-Day reports on the story, and quotes a source close to Vishal saying, “Omkara surprised critics and viewers alike, with Saif receiving accolades for his performance. No one could have pulled off the character like he did. The script for the spin-off is currently being written. There have been multiple propositions on how to create the narrative. The story will put the spotlight on how this man became the way he is.”

Omkara, adapted from Shakespeare’s Othello, and co-written by Vishal Baradwaj, Abhishek Chaubey and Robin Bhatt, released in 2006. A political-crime-drama, starring Ajay Devgn, Kareena Kapoor, Konkona Sharma, Saif Ali Khan, Vivek Oberoi, and Naseeruddin Shah, it tells the story of Omi – a gangster-turned-politician, and his associates, Kesu and Langda. Saif Ali Khan, as Langda, is the antagonist, who plots the destruction of Omkara.
The Mid-Day story says that the three writers – Vishal, Robin, and Abhishek, will write the new spin-off as well, while Saif Ali Khan has already confirmed his role.
