Salman Khan’s Bodyguard Shera Arrested For Armed Assault

On Thursday, Salman Khan’s bodyguard Shera was arrested under charges of physical assault. The complainant, Akhtar Qureshi, has accused Shera of hitting him with the butt of a pistol on Tuesday. Subsequently, Qureshi filed a complaint against Shera at the DN Nagar police station in Mumbai. Shera has been Salman Khan’s close confidante for almost 18 years.

According to Qureshi, who is a cellphone dealer, Shera attacked him following a heated argument over the phone between Shera and Qureshi’s friend. Before going to the station, Shera gave a statement saying that it had been a verbal argument and not a physical fight.

I went to meet a friend at Kokilaben Hospital, then I went to Pop Tate’s where I had a verbal argument on the phone, but no physical scuffle. The police came to my house in the morning and now I am accompanying them to the DN Nagar Police Station. I don’t know the details of the charges against me.”
According to Times Now, the Arms Act, which regulates the use of arms and ammunition, has also been applied against Shera. Other charges levied against him include Sections 326 (causing grievous hurt by dangerous weapons), 503 (criminal intimidation), and 504 (insult with intent to breach the peace) of the IPC. Born into a Sikh family in Andheri in Mumbai, Shera’s legal name is Gurmeet Singh.
