Samantha Akkineni will appear in a cameo in her father-in-law Nagarjuna Akkineni’s film Manmadhudu 2. A sequel to the 2002 romantic comedy, the movie is directed by Rahul Ravindran and also features Rakul Preet and Payal Rajput.
At a recent media interaction, the actress confirmed the news without divulging further details about the movie or her role, reports Cinema Express. “I’m playing an interesting extended cameo in Manmadhudu 2. I can’t reveal anything about what am I up to in the film, but can vouch that it’s going to be an important character in the story,” the actress was quoted as saying.
The original film, directed by K Vijaya Bhaskar, was loosely inspired by the Hollywood film What Men Want, featuring Mel Gibson and Helen Hunt. Manmadhudu was written by Trivikram Srinivas and featured Sonali Bendre in the female lead. The movie revolved around Nagarjuna’s character and his transformation from a misogynist to one who understands love.
With music composed by Devi Sri Prasad, the film went on to become one of the biggest successes in Nagarjuna’s career. The music for the sequel is composed by RX100 fame Chaitan Bharadwaj.
The movie also features Lakshmi, Vennela Kishore, Rao Ramesh and Nasser. With the first schedule of the movie wrapped up, the second schedule is currently underway in Portugal.
