Samantha Ruth Prabhu, the South Indian actor, has signed two new bilingual films to be made in Tamil and Telugu, the makers of both films announced on social media on Friday, on the occasion of Dusshera.
Samantha, who was last seen in the second season of Amazon Prime Video’s web series The Family Man, will be leading both the upcoming projects.
First up, the actor is teaming up with SR Prabhu’s production banner Dream Warrior Pictures for an untitled film that will be written and directed by debutant filmmaker Shantaruban Gnanasekharan. According to the makers, the film will be a “breezy, different love story” and the male lead will be announced soon. The upcoming film, which marks the banner’s 30th production, will go on floors soon, a note from the team said.
The second bilingual project headlined by Samantha will be backed by the Sridevi Films banner, which has earlier produced Telugu films such as Aditya 369 (1991), Gentleman (2016), and Sammohanama (2018). While the title is yet to be revealed, this film will be produced by Sivalenka Krishna Prasad and directed by the filmmaker duo Hareesh Narayan and Hari Shankar.
The rest of the cast and crew of both upcoming films are yet to be revealed.
Meanwhile, Samantha, who recently announced her separation from husband and actor Naga Chaitanya, made her first public appearance on the game show Evaru Meelo Koteeswarulu, hosted by actor Junior NTR.

Samantha also has a Tamil film helmed by filmmaker Vignesh Shivan and Kaathu Vaakula Rendu Kaadhal, which co-stars actors Vijay Sethupathi and Nayanthara, in the pipeline.
Her upcoming mythical period drama Shakuntalam, also starring Dev Mohan as King Dushyant, was recently wrapped up. Written and directed by Gunasekhar, the film is produced by Dil Raju and Gunasekhar’s daughter Neelima Guna under Gunaa Team Works.
