Actress Samantha Ruth Prabhu, who is awaiting the release of director Velraj’s Thangamagan, will be sharing screen space with Dhanush in Vetri Maaran’s Vada Chennai. According to reports, Samantha will perform the unglamorous role of a slum dweller. Her character will appear without makeup, and will speak in the local North Chennai accent. Samantha is likely to dub in her own voice, as she did for 10 Enradhukulla.

Shooting of Vada Chennai is expected to commence in January, and Dhanush has allotted 200 days for the film. Vada Chennai will be made in two parts, and will span 30 years of a gangster’s life, played by Dhanush. This will also be Samantha’s first appearance in an unglamorous role.
Currently, Vetri Maaran is busy promoting Visaaranai to a global audience. Visaaranai is expected to have a theatrical release across India in the coming months.
