Samuthirakani Directs Jayam Ravi In ‘Thondan’

Actor-Director Samuthirakani is casting actor Jayam Ravi in his next directorial venture, Thondan. The film will also include Telugu actor Allari Naresh in an important role. Unlike his other films, Samuthirakani will only be directing and not acting in this film.

Although several news reports stated that the actor-director originally had Sasikumar in mind for the lead role, Samuthirakani, denies the news. “I wrote the script and realised that Jayam Ravi fits the character, hence I approached him,” he told Silverscreen. After Nimirndhu Nil (2014), Samuthirakani and Jayam Ravi are working together for the second time in Thondan.

The upcoming film will have a social message, a common theme found in his other films such as Saattai and Appa. The shooting is slated to take place towards the end of the year, considering the rest of the cast are yet to be finalised. “It is too early to say much. We will finalise on the female character only in a month,” he said.

Meanwhile, his multilingual film Kitna, starring Dhansika will continue to be on hold, resuming once filming for Thondan comes to an end.
