Santhosh Jayakumar’s Next With Arvind Swami Is A Mystery Thriller

Aravind Swami At Etcetera Entertainment-Production No 12 Movie Launch

Director Santhosh P Jayakumar has announced his next film with actor Arvind Swami and composer Imman. The film will be produced by  Etcetera Entertainment, and marks director Santhosh’s first thriller after Hara Hara Hara Mahadevaki, Iruttu Araiyil Murattu Kuthu and Gajinikanth.

The project was launched with a function in Chennai yesterday.

Some reports say this is Santhosh Jayakumar’s Theemai Than Vellum, the film that was announced with his regular collaborator, actor Gautham Karthik. However, Santhosh clarified to Silverscreen today that the new film with Etcetra Entertainment is a different project. Theemai Than Vellum, which was planned with Studio Green as producers, was dropped for unknown reasons. The director later said that the film would definitely take off with a different production house.

Speaking to Silverscreen about the new film, Santhosh said he had always wanted to make a thriller, and this film has an unusual story. “Generally we see crime scenes, murders or political thrillers. But this film is a mystery thriller in which things are not explicit and they must be decoded. I wanted a story which was intense, subtle and mature, and this is a thriller I’ve always wanted to do.”

He said that Arvind Swami’s role is that of a CB-CID officer. “We wanted someone who would be apt for the part, and Arvind Swami was the first actor who came to mind. When I approached him with the script he liked it and readily agreed.” The film is inspired by many true incidents, including the Pollachi sexual assault cases and cases of cyber crime. Composer Imman is on board for music. “I’ve always been a fan of Imman’s re-recording. And because this is a thriller, I thought he would be perfect. There are three songs and re-recording is an important part of the film,” said Santhosh.

The yet-to-be-titled project is the 12th production for V Mathiyalagan’s Etcetera Entertainment. The Cinematography for the film is by Ballu, who worked with Santhosh in Ghajinikanth and Iruttu Araiyil Murattu Kuthu. The rest of the cast and crew are yet to be announced. Shooting will commence in the end of this month or the first week of June.

Meanwhile, actor Arvind Swami is awaiting the release of Kallapart, Naragasooran and Sathuranga Vettai 2.
