Actor Siddharth can now breathe easy, with the President of the Theninindia Nadigar Sangam, R. Sarath Kumar choosing to back him in the Jigarthanda release issue. Siddharth had rubbed the producers the wrong way with his tweet alleging that the producer of the film had postponed the film to August 1st, without informing the team. In an official statement, the film’s producer S. Kathiresan had retorted that it was unfair on Siddharth’s part to question his decision, as actors weren’t familiar with the processes that went behind the release of films.

Meeting the press at Nagarcoil, actor Sarath Kumar said, “An actor will certainly care about the release of his or her film and that is what Siddharth did when he spoke about the release of Jigarthanda. Maybe, the producer shouldn’t have blown up this issue.” Siddharth, who had been promoting the film aggressively was only too grateful for the support and he took to Twitter to thank Sarath Kumar; “Thank you @realsarathkumar and Nadigar Sangam for setting the record straight. Cinema is team work. #JIGARTHANDA #Aug1”
Jigarthanda has beendirected by Karthik Subbaraj. Lakshmi Menon pairs opposite Siddharth and Santhosh Narayanan has composed the music.
