Arjun Kapoor, Neena Gupta, and Rakul Preet Singh starrer Sardar Ka Grandson will release on Netflix this summer, the streaming platform announced in a press release on Saturday.
The film, which is a family entertainer, also stars Aditi Rao Hydari, John Abraham, Soni Razdan, Kanwaljit Singh, Kumud Mishra, and Divya Seth.
According to the press release, the film showcases the journey of a US-return grandson who will go to any length to fulfill his grandmother’s last wish. Sardar (played by Gupta), who is a fun-loving matriarch of a large, warm family based in Punjab. Talking about her character, Gupta said, “This is a heartwarming story filled with lots of emotions and laughter. It’s the perfect family watch as you embark on a journey with my grandson as he fights all odds to fulfill my last wish. This is the first time I am playing a character like this one and I am excited to see how the audience reacts to it!”
Kapoor, who is playing the role of the grandson, said in the press release that working alongside a talented ensemble cast was an “enriching experience” for him. He added that he hopes the story will resonate with the audiences across the globe, especially with the “raw and real” emotions that the grandmother and grandson pair share with each other.
Sardar Ka Grandson is directed by debutant Kaashvie Nair, who has previously assisted filmmaker Nikkhil Advani on the 2013 film D-Day and co-directed the television series POW: Bandi Yuddh Ke. The film is written by Anuja Chauhan, and is produced by Emmay Entertainment, John Abraham Entertainment, and T-Series.

Apart from this, Kapoor also has two other releases this year namely, Sandeep Aur Pinky Farrar, which is set for a theatrical release on March 19, and Bhoot Police, which will come to the theatres on September 10. He also recently announced that he will be seen in the upcoming Mohit Suri film Ek Villain Returns, which is scheduled for a release on February 11, 2022.
